Meet Dr Rebekah Mack and Dr Helen Michael, authors of ‘Longitudinal evaluation of symmetric dimethylarginine and concordance of kidney biomarkers in cats and dogs’ (The Veterinary Journal, Volume 276, October 2021, 105732) and ‘A longitudinal study of the persistence of increase creatinine and concordance between kidney biomarkers in cats and dogs’ (The Veterinary Journal, Volume 276, October 2021, 105729).

Rebekah Mack
DVM, DACVIM-SAIM, Global Leader Medical Education Content Development and Delivery

 

Dr. Rebekah Mack graduated from Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2010, and then spent a year of rotating internship at Bluepearl of Georgia in Atlanta, this was followed by a small animal internal medicine residency at Michigan State University and is board certified by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine. After completing her residency in 2014 she spent several years at a private referral hospital. She joined IDEXX in 2017 as an internal medicine consultant, served as the medical affairs specialist for the renal franchise from 2018-2021, with a current role as the global leader of content development and delivery for medical education.

 

Dr. med. vet. Nikola Pantchev
FTA for Parasitology (Certified Specialist in Parasitology) Regional Medical Affairs Advisor Europe

 

Study of Veterinary Medicine in Giessen / Germany with subsequent assistance at the Institute of Parasitology, Justus-Liebig-University Giessen, including a dissertation in human and rodent-pathogenic filaria. Thereafter, employment in the pharmaceutical industry (Intervet / now MSD) followed, involving development of new ectoparasiticides against ticks and fleas on dogs and cats, and Vet Med Laboratory / IDEXX Laboratories as Head of Parasitology / Serology / Immunology departments and Key Account Manager for Infectious Diseases / Gastroenterology for GSA area. Special interests are vector-borne and feline virus infections including associated kidney diseases und internal medicine; zoonotic and parasitic diseases in pets / exotics, diagnosis of infectious, gastrointestinal, and pancreatic disorders; 22 years’ experience in diagnosis and research with co-authorship of 10 scientific books (in 3 languages: German, English, Spain), ~150 scientific publications and over 250 congress abstracts

 

Helen Michael
DVM, PhD, DACVP Global Clinical Study and Publication Strategist


Helen graduated with her DVM from the University of Minnesota and completed then completed a residency in Clinical Pathology there. She obtained her PhD through the NIH Comparative Biomedical Scientist Training Program in conjunction with the University of Maryland and did a postdoctoral fellowship at the NIH. She joined the IDEXX Global Medical Organization in 2020.
